    Hi everyone!
    I have a question: How did other famous hostels advertise their parties/events besides the social media event and all the online stuff?
    If guests are in-house how do you do to make people get in the party mode and join the party?
    Here at Cats Porto Hostel what we do besides the social media post and sharing, the event promotion mail for the reserves on that day, we print some Posters and spread around the hostel (reception, lift, lounge room, bar, etc.). We also have a “Cats Life Corner” basically it’s 2 black walls and we wrote all the activities, useful information, schedules, and our daily events with a week board with events for each day and its changed every week.
    The receptionist talks about the event in the check-in and show the Cats Life Corner with the weekly schedule. The bartenders always try to get people in the mood for the party (they are very good at it btw). And the Cats Ambassadors also speak to everyone in the hostel inviting for the party, and then… PARTY HARD HAPPENS!

    So if you guys have any suggestions for us that would be cool if you can share! There’s always room for improvement.

    Hi Jó,
    At Bauhaus we have been trying to run events lately with varying success.
    The promotion tools that we use are:
    – Blackboard at reception
    – Posters around rooms and bathrooms and at reception desk
    – We use a service called ‘mail-chimp’ to send emails to all arrivals and in-house
    – The person running it goes around the bar/reception at the start of the event to get people to sign up
    – Use a microphone to announce the event
    – Putting the event poster on the projector in the bar
    – Printing event schedule and add to front page of our bar menu
    – Putting the event details in with the check-in packs

    We use Oaky upselling tool which shows our social events as well to the guests. They get the info before arrival.
